I didn’t purpose to be in the space that I find myself in. God plucked me from the path that I had set out for myself & set me on an alternative journey. At the start it all appeared somewhat ‘accidental’ but I know now that it was no accident, rather His design, His purpose for my life…

So now that I am here, these are my confessions…the lessons I am learning about being a woman in business, building an empire, one brick at a time…

Lesson No 71: Inside-Out

"Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do. Don't wish it were easier; wish you were better."
~ Jim Rohn

Success is an inside-out process. What goes on in the inside manifests itself on the outside.

December is my month to reflect. As a leader, I have learned that is it very important to take time to look back on the year that has gone by, so that I can clear the slate & start afresh in the new year.

And what a year is has been…

As I reflect on 2020, there are many lessons I have learned – but the thought that keeps running around in my mind is the idea that what we see on the outside, is born on the inside.

It is written in scripture,

As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he

~ Proverbs 23:7a

So this is not a new thought. but what a powerful principle, and it has been validated over & over again for me this year.

Success is an inside-out assignment.

To manifest what I want on the outside, I must do the work on the inside. And here is the thing, inside work is hard, inside work is scary, and sometimes it is not very pretty as you come to terms with who you really are, what your default responses are and how you are holding yourself back with procrastination, self-doubt and that killer-of-dreams called the imposter syndrome.

Inside work requires you to step outside of your comfort zone & camp there.

2020 has been a tough year. It really, really has. But I am grateful because 2020 has also been a growth year. I have been forced to dig deep & roll up my sleeves and do some inside work that I know will pay off in 2021.

I am ready for the new year, are you?
